Philosophy

The principal, faculty and the management believes that the main aim of the institution is to prepare the graduates to assume responsibilities as professional, competent nurses and midwives in providing preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative services.

We further believe that undergraduate nursing program is directed towards the development of critical thinking skills, competencies and standards. It also prepares graduates to adhere to code of ethics and professional conduct at all times in professional nursing practice. The teachers have the responsibility to be role models in fulfilling personal, professional and social obligations.

Institution also expected to prepare nurses who can make independent decisions in nursing situation, protect the rights of the individual and group in pursuit of health function in the hospital, community and conduct research studies in the areas of nursing practice. They are also prepared to assume the role of a teacher, supervisor and manager in the clinical/ public health setting and educational institutions of nursing.

Objectives

On the completion of the four year BSc nursing program the graduate will be able to:

  1. Apply knowledge from medical including alternative systems, nursing, physical, biological and behavioral science in providing nursing care to individuals, families and communities.

  2. Demonstrate understanding of life style and other factors, which affect health of individuals and groups.

  3. Providing nursing care based on steps of nursing process in collaboration with individuals and groups.

  4. Demonstrate critical thinking skills for making decisions in all situations in order to provide good quality care.

  5. Utilize the latest trends and technology in providing health care.

  6. Provide preventive, promotive and restorative health services in association with the national health policies and programs.

  7. Practice according to the frame work of code of ethics, professional conduct, and acceptable standards within the legal boundaries.

  8. Communicate effectively with individuals, groups, and members of the health team in order to promote effective inter personal relationships and team work.

  9. Demonstrate skills in teaching to individuals and groups in clinical, community health settings and school of nursing.

  10. Participate effectively as a member of the health team in health care delivery system.

  11. Demonstrate leadership and managerial skills in clinical/community health settings.

  12. Conduct need based research studies in various settings and utilize the research finding to improve the quality of care.

  13. Demonstrate awareness and interest towards the advancement of self and profession.
